Notes from The July 07, 2011 Workshop
Filed under: Notes; Tagged as: 45 Years, Co Worker, Co Workers, Dentist, Diet, Enough Money, Extra Money, Family Friends, Favorite Restaurant, Friends And Co, Healthier Foods, Houston Network, Liquids, Network Marketing, Nothing Works, Owning A Restaurant, Pills, Pyramid, Retirement, TrowerNo CommentsThe First Skill All New Distributors Should Be Taught.
Here are the notes from James Trower’s training at the Houston Network Marketing Meetup July 07, 2011
There is a huge difference between Needs and Wants.
Everyone Needs to go to the Dentist every 6 months, but do we Want to? NO!
Everyone Needs to get up an hour earlier and Exercise, but do we Want to? NO!
Everyone Needs to watch their Diet and eat healthier foods but do we Want to? NO!
Everyone Needs to pay Taxes, but do we Want to? NO!So it’s perfectly normal for people to Need things, but not Want them.
And when you get home you’re going to find out that your family, friends and co-workers are perfectly normal.
When you get home you’re going to be listening to a relative complaining about……….
And at some point you’re going to ask them “would you like to do something about it?”
And they’re going to say things like, I am under a doctor’s care, I am allergic to all liquids, powers, and pills, I’ve tried everything and nothing works for me. All these excuses are “code” for NO!
You know that your relative Needs your product or service but doesn’t Want it and that’s perfectly normal. Your business is only with the people who Want it.
When you get to work your going to hear your co-worker complaining about not having enough money for………………….
And at some point you’re going to ask them “would you like to do something about it?”And they’re going to say things like, I don’t know anyone, I am not a sales man, that’s a pyramid, I am only 45 years away from retirement. All these excuses are “code” for NO!
You know that your co-works Needs your opportunity, Needs the extra money but they don’t want it and that’s perfectly normal. Your business is only with the people who Want it.
Restaurant
It’s like owning a restaurant. What’s your favorite restaurant? (XYZ). Do you think everyone should try the food at XYZ’s Restaurant at least once? (Yes). Does everyone Want to? NO, for what every reason 99% of the people in (Your town) do not go to XYZ’s Restaurant, but does XYZ’s Restaurant have a great business with the 1% that does? Absolutely, you see XYZ’s Restaurant understands that their business is only with the people that want to go there.
BOB
Imagine you have a job looking for people named Bob, and you walked up to me and said "hey James what’s your name" and I say "James". Then you say "wouldn’t you like to be a Bob. My life would be a lot easier if you where a Bob. You look like a Bob. Do you feel like a Bob? You can sign this application and change your name to Bob. Would you please be a Bob!"Would you do that? NO, you would simply go find someone else and ask them if their name is Bob. And if you where really smart you’d ask them do you know anyone named Bob. Our business is only with the Bob’s of the world.
This story will help shield your new distributor from what’s going to happen when people say NO who shouldn’t. So when someone says NO to them instead of them feeling rejected and wanting to quit they will understand that it’s perfectly normal for people to Need things but not Want them.
Not everyone who Needs our products and services is going to Want them and that is perfectly normal. Our business is only with the people that Want to.

A HUGE thanks to Tom "Big Al" Schreiter for teaching us the skills for success and encouraging us to pass them on. Thanks to the members of the Houston Network Marketing Meetup Group for your support and interest in learning the skills to build your business and for passing those skills on to your teams.

May 2011 Meetup – "No" is not the most painful word
Filed under: Meetup Announcements; Tagged as: Amp, Central Time, Decisions, Houston Network Marketing Meetup Group, Indecision, Jennifer Fisher, Meetup, Mental Energy, Prospects, Ramp, Richard Dennis, Saturday Night, Sounds, TeleseminarNo CommentsSure, when they say "No", it hurts. But it also releases you, lets you go on your way.
The most painful word is actually a sentence:
"OK. Sounds good. Let me think about it."
THAT one is like a never-ending toothache. It can tie you up for days or weeks or months or … years?
A leader makes decisions. Go with your gut. Do it. Right or wrong, it really does not matter. You can always change it later. The longer you think it over, the more time & mental energy you waste.
Have you ever noticed how tough it is for pr0spects to decide?
On Saturday night, May 14th, at 7:55 pm
Central time, Richard Dennis will talk about how to ease the pain of decisions … and ramp up the pain of indecision … for your prospects AND for yourself.
You’ll find the dial in information at the meetup site.
What you learn on this teleseminar can make a real difference in your f1nancial future. Hope you’ll join us!

Notes From The Time Management Workshop 03-22-11
Filed under: Notes; No CommentsThanks to those who came and participated in our monthly generic workshop in March. The discussion was on time management.
I told you all I would provide the information presented and apologize for taking so long to get to it.
The only resources we have are time and money…. Until we have earned enough to hire someone to do the busy work, then we have to learn to manage our time effectively.
Effective vs. Efficient – Effectiveness is doing the right job right. Efficiency is simply doing some job right. (There is a world of difference)
A quality networking marketing internet business must have an amazing time management plan for it to be successful.
How much time DO WE HAVE per day to build our business?
When helping your partners find time in their day, remember our coloring exercise. Here is the template we worked from:
http://houstonnetworkmarketing.com/hnm/doc/15min-glance.pdf Help your biz partner isolate even 15 minute slots they did not realize they had. We can do A LOT in 15 minutes, read, listen, make a follow-up call, get something prepared for mailing, etc….. We can’t eliminate excuses though, we can only help them see their day in a different light. We talked about the different time management personalities. Here is the link to that document: http://sbinfocanada.about.com/cs/timemanagement/a/timetypes.htm
Strategies for mastering your productivity with email
including the link to http://lessemailsplease.com to send to your "pass this on" email fanatic friends.
There is ONE thing I do NOT recommend as suggested in the article. I DO NOT recommend Boxbe. Boxbe is the best way I know to LOCK your email out of receiving emails from friends, clients, prospects, etc….. and is, in my books, as devastating to your business as a trojan virus on your computer.
When planning our activities for building our business:
What is the pay off for what I am doing right now?- Important and urgent
- Urgent but not important
- Neither
Zero or negative value activities as:
1. Worry
2. Making up excuses or reasons why things aren’t working
3. Idle chatter
4. Surfing the internet
5. Checking email
6. Instant messaging
7. Going into Convince mode when prospectingLow Value Activities
1. Attending “same old” company trainings and meetings
2. Errands for businesses
3. Repetitive/Administrative work
4. Getting ready to get readyHigh value activities –
1. Generating your leads and following up with them
2. Creating your ad copy or marketing
3. Talking with prospects.Prospect, Connect, Repeat….. Prospect, Connect, Repeat…..
8 Time wasters:
Eliminate Timewasters: (HUGE issue- it is so easy to let these things suck up your time)
a) Constantly checking email.
b) Telephone interruptions – answering the phone EVEYRTIME it rings – let it go to voicemail !!
c) Lack of Objectives – not knowing what our real goal or objective is
d) Crisis Management – the fireman syndrome
e) Attempting too much at once – learn to break big projects up into smaller ones
f) Personal disorganization –
g) Procrastination
h) Lacking the ability to say no – Know your limitations – we cannot do everythingCauses of procrastination – The essence of procrastination is very well reflected in this quote by Bernard Meltzer: "Hard work is often the easy work you did not do at the proper time."
What are typical reasons why you procrastinate? Here are a few of the most common situations to consider in your anti procrastination efforts.
It can be as simple as
· Waiting for the right mood
· Waiting for the right timeThen look at the way you organize your work. You may notice other reasons for procrastination like
· Lack of clear goals
· Underestimating the difficulty of the tasks
· Underestimating the time required to complete the tasks
· Unclear standards for the task outcomes
· Feeling as the tasks are imposed on you from outside
· Too ambiguous tasksAnd there are also many connections with
· Underdeveloped decision making skills
· Fear of failure or fear of success
· PerfectionismProcrastination – adds stress – Stress often comes from things that we are not doing anything about! Procrastination also leads to negative emotions such as guilt and negative self-esteem – JUST DO IT!

Pulling Together For One Cause- (MLM)
Filed under: Tips; Tagged as: Busy Day, Corporate Businesses, Ego, Flying Solo, Houston Network, Jennifer Fisher, Meetup Group, mlm, Network Marketing, Participation, Synergy, UpliftNo CommentsThere is a lot of competition in life between individuals, Corporate businesses and yes, even Network Marketing, when we are out there building our businesses from home.
Everyone has the ‘best’ plan, the ‘best products/services’ …. face it … the best of everything there is to offer.
So what makes this meetup group THE BEST? You! I am not sure you realize just how unique you truly are.
We all share a common direction and within this Houston Network Marketing Meetup Group we are building a community where we are willing to cross those company lines, drop the competition, drop the ego and come together to help each other.
If you would take 3 minutes out of your busy day and watch this video, I believe you will see that when you bring your energy and your knowledge to our workshops, YOU also bring additional ‘uplift’ to help us all soar. YOU help create the synergy that will get us all where we want to go faster than our ‘flying’ solo..

Thank you so much for your continued participation in this group.
I appreciate each and every one of you!
